Craig Moore’s EPL Week 4 Preview: Manchester City And Liverpool To Go On The Attack

Manchester City v Liverpool | Saturday, September 9, 9.30pm (AEST), Etihad Stadium

This should be an absolutely cracking game.

Two teams that have started the season well and I expect a very attacking, entertaining game here.

Pep has been disappointed in his team not taking their chances and will be expecting to be better in front of goal.

Raheem Stirling (pictured above) will look to float around the edges and is very dangerous when he has space.

He’s lightning quick with great feet and he’ll be looking at getting on the ball in areas where he can get at Liverpool’s defence.

If he manages to do this, then he can cause some big problems for his former team.

Liverpool are coming off the back of a convincing win over Arsenal where all the attacking players got on the scoresheet, so they’ll all be ready and thinking they can score.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge are all very dangerous on their day and City will need to bring their A game to keep them quiet.

KEY BATTLE: David Silva v Jordan Henderson

Who can be the cleverer of the two here will be crucial in getting an advantage.

Silva takes up some fantastic positions and has the final pass to unlock a back four.

At a push, I’ll go with him to get on top of Henderson (pictured above).

The Verdict

I expect to see goals in this one and think City can have a better day in front of goals.

They’re still creating plenty of opportunities and it’s up to Aguero and co to start taking their chances.

City to win.

Unibet Odds: Manchester City 1.85 Draw 3.95 Liverpool 4.35

Tip: Manchester City

Correct score: Manchester City 3-1

Arsenal v Bournemouth | Sunday, September 10, 12am (AEST), Emirates Stadium

Arsenal's performance against Liverpool at Anfield was a very poor one from a team which should be showing so much better.

There has been plenty of the wrong type of media around Arsenal for too long.

Whether it has been about the players or Wenger himself, it has certainly taken its toll.

Hard work and a convincing home win is what is needed.

The Verdict

The Gunners to get home in a tough game that hopefully can give them some confidence to start making better strides forward.

Bournemouth will come to play and will ask some questions, so Arsenal need to be ready.

They’ll win but through a workmanlike display rather than the glitz and glamour.

Unibet Odds: Arsenal 1.33 Draw 6.00 Bournemouth 9.35

Tip: Arsenal

Correct score: Arsenal 2-1

Everton v Tottenham | Sunday, September 10, 12am (AEST), Goodison Park

Wayne Rooney’s (pictured above) off-field dramas shouldn’t impact what will happen on the field.

It’s very difficult but things happen all the time in this business and the place of normality for players is on the field.

I don’t see this impacting how Everton will play.

Tottenham are consistent with what they do and with Harry Kane up front and good movement and penetration from midfield they certainly ask questions.

Everton are a very difficult team to play against though and make you work for everything.

Really good test for both teams here to show what they’re capable of this season.

KEY BATTLE: Son Heung-min V Phil Jagielka

Son (pictured above) has been a very good player and unsung in his performances for Spurs.

He’ll be up against it though with the very solid Jagielka.

Everton very stubborn at home and the defender can come out on top.

The Verdict

Everton have started off well and have shown they'll be decent this season.

Spurs haven't started the campaign off well and they need the result.

Unibet Odds: Everton 3.75 Draw 3.50 Tottenham 2.12

Tip: Everton

Correct score: Everton 1-0

Leicester City v Chelsea | Sunday, September 10, 12am (AEST), King Power Stadium

Leicester City seem to have fallen short with their timeline to chase Adrien Silva.

Hopefully the talented midfielder and Leicester can find a solution or they may have a player having to cool his heels until the next window opens which wouldn’t be great.

The transfer deadline madness shows it is still alive and well.

Chelsea had a blip day 1 but have got back to what they do best and are looking decent again.

They don’t seem to be a team that has a standout player, but work ever so well as a unit.

They’re building nicely and this will be a tough game as Leicester have been playing well.

KEY BATTLE: Jamie Vardy v David Luiz

Vardy could have his day in this battle but it won’t be the winning blow for his team.

He can be a real handful and potentially get on the score sheet but I see Chelsea and David Luiz (pictured above) being too strong.

The Verdict

Chelsea to overcome a very aggressive and energetic Leicester City at home.

Chelsea seem to be steady at this moment in time and know how to grind and win games of football.

They can do that here.

Unibet Odds: Leicester City 4.70 Draw 3.90 Chelsea 1.80

Tip: Chelsea

Correct score: Chelsea 3-1

Stoke City v Manchester United | Sunday, September 10, 2.30am (AEST), Stoke

Stoke are a team that don’t give too much away which leaves them a lot of the time still in the fight.

They’re not scoring many though and you just feel this Manchester United team in its current form will have a bigger say in this match.

This will be a tough game. No doubt about it.

Stoke work so hard and will have United knowing they’re in a game here but if they apply themselves in the right way they can fight for the win or do it by outplaying Stoke as well.

They must be at their best here because Stoke will have a red hot crack here.

KEY BATTLE: Nemanja Matic v Xherdan Shaqiri

Matic (pictured above) is playing a very important role for United releasing Paul Pogba to be more attacking.

He protects his back four well and will need to with the unpredictable Shaqiri who can do the unthinkable.

I’m thinking the hard work and simplicity of his game will see Matic close down any space that can cause United any issues.

The Verdict

Man Utd to keep on rolling and although this will be a tough game, there’s a belief at the moment and that is in the favor of United and they'll win here.

Unibet Odds: Stoke City 7.35 Draw 4.50 Manchester United 1.50

Tip: Manchester United

Correct score: Manchester United 2-0

West Ham v Huddersfield Town | Tuesday, September 12, 5am (AEST), London Stadium

Aaron Mooy (pictured above) was very good for Australia in their world cup qualifier and will back up and do what he does best.

He seems to be a player that thrives on games and pressure.

He’ll be looking to put in another good performance that can hopefully give his team a chance.

KEY BATTLE: Aaron Mooy v Javier Hernandez

Mooy being on top of his game will give Huddersfield their best chance of joy but West Ham will be desperate at home to get a result and the cheeky finisher in Hernandez (pictured above) can be the difference here.

The Verdict

West Ham need a result and at home to Huddersfield they really need this game to be the one where they take maximum points from.

That drive and hunger can get them over the line in this one in a scrappy affair.

Unibet Odds: West Ham 1.78 Draw 3.60 Huddersfield Town 4.70

Tip: West Ham

Correct score: West Ham 2-0
